What Makes a Great Website?

There’s always been a heavy discussion around what makes a great website. Most opinions seem to disagree with each other; some even have very opposite ideas from one another. However, let’s think about it and see what we look for when we think about a great website.

Different people have different priorities. One thing we should be keeping in mind is that depending on your business sector, some things might seem more important for a website than others. If you’re a freelance photographer, you’ll be far more concerned about the way your portfolio is displayed than, say, an accounting firm. They might prioritize having a simple way to display the services they offer. So when we talk about the things that make a great website, we have to keep in mind that, while they are crucial, the emphasis you want to place on them is directly connected to what you need to display on your site.

  1. Simplicity
A clean-cut design that does not saturate the screen with many different font sizes, photos or colors is more likely to make visitors feel compelled to browse your site a little longer.

  2. Mobile-readiness
Does your website display properly while on a cell phone or tablet? It’s not a matter of whether it does or not by this time: having your website work perfectly, be responsive and easy to navigate from a portable device is a must

  3. Precise content
Many people believe that the more text they add on their website, the better; but this is not necessarily true. Lengthy, imprecise text that takes a long time to get to the point will actually drive visitors away.

Having a great website is an important factor in having a successful business. If you're struggling with any of the things we've previously mentioned, reach out and let us know. We're here to help!
